Sunday Confessions

Today I thought I would try something new and participate in a linkup. I see them a lot on other peoples blogs and think its a great way to find new people to follow and blogs to read. I'm linking up with Alyx over at Every Day is a New Adventure and sharing my own Sunday confessions so here goes.

1) I am actually a bit petrified of magpies ever since I was dive bombed by one. I actually flinch every time I hear one.

2) I just discovered and am in love with Strongbow Apple Cider with mangos and passionfruit.

3) Just found out that one of my favourite bands Garbage has released a new album after a very long time away and am loving this song so far.

4) I have been reading a ton of books while we have travelled across Australia but my favourite new find is A Discover of Witches and Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness.

5) I am becoming so use to the hot weather here in Brisbane that when we do have a rainy day I actually feel really cold. I'm in trouble if we move somewhere else.

Happy Sunday everyone.

Date Night

Date night is usually a weekly thing for the beau and I. I love date night. Even if we are just ordering in and renting a movie I look forward to it. Nothing better then quality time with my man.
Last week was an extra special date night as we were celebrating out 2nd anniversary. This past year we have both gone through a lot of change especially with the move to Australia. I think this has made our relationship so much stronger and has made us both realize how lucky we are that we found each other. We discovered how easy it was to travel together even if we had no idea where we were going, we just drove and enjoyed each others company. We found that even if we didn't want to see or do the same things we would always meet in the middle so that both of us could experience what we wanted while we travelled Australia.
I discovered that having him was enough. I had left my job, my friends and family and moved across the world on a whim but having him right there by myself promising to be there for me through the good and the bad was all that I needed.
Two years is a short time but it has been the most exciting two years of my life and I am so excited to keep moving forward with this fantastic man and see what else life has to offer us.

Looking good all dressed up

Scary surprise in the middle of the night

How annoying is it when you wake up in the middle of the night knowing you need to pee but the effort off climbing out of your warm and cozy bed just seems far to much so you squeeze your eyes shut trying to ignore the little voice in your head telling you to get up. I curse my small bladder as this happens fairly often to me and its so irritating that my perfect sleep has to be interrupted.
Eventually after I except I'm not going to fall back to sleep so I might as well get myself up and get it over with. Stumbling to the bathroom with my eyes only slightly open only to be blinded by the bright light. Great now I'm fully awake and its going to be almost impossible for me to fall back to sleep.
As I sit down with my shorts around my ankles leaning on one hand with eyes closed I get the creepy feeling I'm being watched. I slowly open my eyes to a flash of brown scurrying across the floor. My mind immediately goes into panic mood as my eyes aren't focused enough to see what just ran across the floor but I'm pretty sure I know what it is and its literally caught me with my pants down. The worst possible time and its my worst nightmare.

Yes this is the actual size and yes I start hyperventilating when I see one and almost pass out from fear. The only thing that keeps me focused is the fact that I need to get out of the same room as this thing.
Now the beau is pretty good about my extreme fear of spiders and will get rid of anything when I scream for him. So I come running into the room and shake him awake and only have voice enough to screech spider spider bathroom spider. So he sleepily get out of bed and grabs a glass cause although he has no issue catching them and getting rid of them for me he refuses to kill them.
Now to me thats true love. Every night that this has happened he wakes up without complaint, gets rid of the spider and rubs my back until I calm back down enough to fall asleep.
The only thing that comforts me a little in this situation is knowing that the Huntsman is not a poisonous spider. I've heard that it hurts a lot if one were to bite you but not needing to be rushed to the hospital is somewhat helpful to me. Since moving into our new place this has happened three times so far. I'm wondering if I will ever be brave enough to deal with them myself.

Has something similar ever happened to you?

Thinking about the past

Lately I have been thinking about all the wonderful places I have been lucky enough to visit. Sometimes I find myself thinking that I haven't really accomplished that much in my life especially when I start to compare myself to other people. I have a career sort of but don't really want to be in this type of work any longer. I would like to go back to school but have no real idea for what or where to start. Most people I know have all ready figured out all of that and have set themselves on a five year plan. So where does that leave me?
When I need a gentle reminder the wonderful friends/loved ones that I have in my life remind me of all the fantastic places I have explored. I have checked off way more countries then most of my friends could ever dream of doing.
Its these reminders that put my life in perspective. I have put travel first on my list of priorities and will probably always put it first. It is the one thing I desire the most. The one thing I never get sick of. No matter how many bad experiences I have I will always want to pack up and continue on to the next one. I am completely content with owning nothing except for what fits in my backpack and my trusted Mac of course. To me there is no better feeling then selling all my possessions and packing for that next exciting adventure.
I started looking through all the pictures I have from past trips taken and I remembered how great it was that my younger sister came all the way to Italy to meet up with me and explore. We spent a month together roaming the streets of Rome, Venice, Verona and Milian and taking in all they had to offer. A month was not enough to see it all and I really want to return there one day again to see everything once more but for now I will be happy enough to browse through those pictures and remember that great time in my life.

Woodgate Beach

While we were camping in Big Crystal Creek National Park we met some wonderful people who invited us over to their campfire, shared stories about Australia and their lives and generally just made us feel extremely welcome. It was nice and cozy and refreshing after the brutal drive it had been to get there. When I mean brutal I mean the serious road rage problems people seem to have over here. Especially to camper vans.
Anyways these couples told us all about their wonderfully quiet town of Woodgate Beach and said if we ever stopped by they would be happy to host us as it is a beautiful place in the summer. While we have slowly been making out way back to Brisbane I noticed where Woodgate was on the map and how easy it would be for us to just stop in for a night or two to check it out and decide if it would be one of those places that we would try and visit again before our time was up here in Australia.

Kangaroos seem to love this peaceful area as much as the people and are everywhere. Slow careful driving is required. One of the ladies was telling me that she has a mom and Joey that she feeds every morning and the little Joey follows her and her dogs round all the time. Now how cute would that be.

I love walking around squishing my feet into the sand and taking pictures of all the neat little patterns you find.

It was a bit of a cool day so no swimming but it was perfect for a peaceful stroll along the beach imagining how perfect it would be to spend a summer vacation here chilling with a latte and great book.

I loved this place and I can't really explain why. It soothed me I guess is the correct way to say it. I forgot all about technology, stress and the world around us and it was enough just to sit and relax and take in the sounds around me. A place of heaven.
