A Hervey Bay Christmas

I know these pictures are a bit late but like I said in my 2013 goals post, I really am trying to get myself organized and remember to go through my pictures on a regular basis so I can post them on here.

Our Christmas mini break was exactly what we were looking for. It was quiet, it felt like we were the only ones staying at the resort. We strolled along the strand eating ice-cream and taking pictures, watching as the bright blue jelly fish floated on by. We spent many hours swimming in the pool, reading and soaking up the sun.
It was wonderful, tranquil and something I will remember fondly for years to come.

  1. So perfect! We saw heaps of jellyfish in Gladstone too, though they were the ones that you needed to stay the hell away from! I found it really odd seeing vinegar packets and bottles up and down the beaches!

    1. Does vinegar work against the sting then? Haven't heard of that before. This was my first look at jellyfish. We didn't realize they came down as far as Hervey Bay. Thought it was only up in northern Queensland.

    2. Apparently it helps with the non-poisonous ones, it just helps you get the sticky stuff off of you and to get the actually jellyfish off. If you get stung by a poisonous one you need to get to a hospital. My friends at the office had me absolutely terrified but once I saw the jelly fish I understood why!

  2. Wow.. gorgeous photos. Looks like an awesome getaway. I've never seen an out of water jellyfish!! I lived in Maryland for summer and watched them swim under the docks in Annapolis. They're so creepy! Great photo.

  4. Is that jellyfish thing FOR REAL? Wow. I've never seen anything like it and I grew up beside the ocean (oh, how I miss the sea!).
    A wonderful blog - I've found my way here via Vanisha's. :)

  5. Looks so relaxing. Is that jellyfish really blue or are my eyes deceiving me?

    1. Its totally real. They were so bright blue against the water that you could pick them out easily. luckily we saw them before going into the water even though there were still a ton of people swimming who didn't seem to care.

  7. Hi Kayleigh! I have always wanted to go to Hervey Bay and I think these photos have me sold on a trip there in the very near future! We went on a trip away just before Chrissy to a place with a pool and a beautiful view of the ocean on the NSW south coast...but it rained the whole time and was definitely not a swimable temperature! Very disappointing but at least getting away for a weekend was still nice. Certainly didn't see any crazy jellyfish, that is amazing and creepy at the same time! I'm new to the blogging world (sophboat.blogspot.com.au) so pop over and say hello anytime, looking forward to reading more :)
