Wanderlust Wednesday - Bora Bora

Welcome to wanderlust Wednesday. This might just become a regular feature every week. See how it goes. The idea behind this is I would like to start sharing the places that are on my bucket list to visit. Maybe even talk about the places that I have been to and would love to visit again. This could last for awhile as my list of places seems never ending.

What better place to start this series off then Bora Bora. For me this place would be one of those sit back and relax type vacations. I could picture myself relaxing at the beach sunning myself with a big stack of books beside me. Perhaps sipping on a mojito or two.

What would be your top choice for a vacation if money was no object?

Dream World

I was looking through all our travel pictures and realized that I never posted about our fabulous trip to Dream World.  Our wonderful friend Leana decided to treat us to a day at Dream World. I was extremely excited as I haven't been on a roller coaster in a really long time. Keep in mind that this trip happened back in November but I figure better late then never right.

It was a fun filled day of never ending adventure. I was exhausted by the end of it but it was so worth it.

Sunday Confessions

I hope everyone has had a lovely weekend. I sure did. I strolled the morning markets, sipping a delicious latte. Explored the library and stocked up on some reading material. Wandered around taking pictures and am now relaxing at home with the beau getting ready for an evening of watching our beloved tv shows and the new die hard movie.

Here are some awesome Sunday confessions for you.

1) I finally convinced Jason to come to the markets with me. Success.

2) I have set a challenge for myself to read 80 books this year. Lets see if this actually happens.

3) I have heard a lot of people say they watch the tv series Downtown Abby. Is it really worth watching?

4) Our friends here were fascinated with our love of poutine, especially when we said we were improving it by adding pieces of roast chicken and stuffing. Yum.

5) We haven't made it to the beach in a couple weeks now. Sad face. I know I shouldn't complain because we have had some fantastic weather but this rain needs to go away.

Gone Fishing

I think the last time I went fishing was with my dad. Back when I was younger he would take me and my two sisters out on the beautiful lake in his little boat, lounging in the sun and waiting for the fish to bite. I remember the excitement when your rod started to twitch about letting you know that you had finally caught a fish and then the realization that I would have to kill said fish myself and gut it because it was my catch. As we grew older fishing didn't seem to hold the same excitement in once had and instead we would paint our nails and read our books while dad fished for the day. At least we still came along right.
Jason loves to fish but in the almost three years that we have been dating we haven't once found the time to go together. So when his friend offered to take us to one of his fishing spots Jason jumped at the chance and I came along content to walk around taking pictures and read my book.
Fishing is extremely relaxing or in my case watching people fish. Jason waded out into the water standing there for hours waiting for something to happen. I walked along the beach watching the little hermit crabs battle over who was the strongest and should live in the best hole. Snapping pictures of all the boats, shells and people fishing.
When the tide is out the sand stretches on for miles connecting to a little island. It is a popular spot for runners and families out for a stroll soaking up the sunny weather. As  the sun started to go down and the wind picked up it was evident that we wouldn't be catching anything and instead decided to settle for fish and chips at the local store.
We will get you next time sneaky fish.

Sunday Confessions

Hello lovely readers its time for some Sunday Confessions.

1) It has been an extremely lazy day today. So far the only time we have left our house has been to go and grab a coffee.

2) Since we are being so lazy we still need to go get groceries, do the laundry and cook something healthy for dinner since all we have been eating is junk.

3)  I am super excited to see the movie Anna Karenina. Love the book and I think Keira Knightly is an amazing actress so it should be a fabulous movie.

4) I have finally finished my 30 before 30 list. I will be sharing it on the blog this week.

5) Loved reading The Wolf Gift by Anne Rice. I use to love reading her books when I was younger and recently found this one via goodreads. It was one of those books I just couldn't put down and I am so excited for the 2nd one to come out.

I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday.

Inner Happiness

I have been a huge fan of yoga for many years. Not only does it help to keep you in shape and toned but its peaceful, relaxing and helps to quiet your mind. After a long, hectic day once you hit the mat all that disappears and its just you and your practice. My favourite so far is hot yoga. I find the sequence combined with the fact that its extremely hot in the room really allows your muscles to stretch, slowly working out all the kinks in your body.
I started to get into a routine where I would wake up at 5:45am drive to the studio for the 6:30am class(this is how much I loved the instructor that taught the early morning classes because man am I not a morning person) the first 10 mins of the class I am usually pretty sleepy and it takes me awhile to really get into it. By the time I am down I am revitalized, energized and ready to start my day. Its only 7:30 so I have plenty of time. I shower and get ready for work then walk across the parking lot to the starbucks for a coffee.
Having this routine gave me time in the morning to slowly wake myself up and prepare for the day. To sip my coffee while reading a book and really enjoy myself instead of rushing around the house frantically trying to get ready for work because once again I had slept in.
I would go 6 times a week usually and even completed a 30 day challenge.

Since I have been travelling however I have become distracted from my practice. I was so excited to be touring around and exploring new places that I completely forgot how important this morning routine was for me. There is also the fact that once we came to Australia we had such a laid back lifestyle that I never really felt like working out or taking on the task of finding a studio that was a great as my previous one.
I am happy to say that I have become aware of how much I have missed doing yoga on a daily basis and am slowly getting back into it bit by bit. I have found some wonderful videos online and although it is not the same as the hot studio or the atmosphere my body thanks me for resuming.

This video is something I found on a friends Facebook page a long time ago but I love to watch it. It is something to aspire to. The amount of strength it takes to be able to do these moves is amazing and I hope one day to be able to complete this.

P.S thank you so much for the kind words on the previous post. I feel much better now and have worked everything out with myself. I think everyone goes through this and I need to remind myself to step back and take a breathe once in awhile.

Just Breathe

I have had a really bad day today, if I am being really honest its been a bad couple of days. I feel like I am going insane. Im not at all myself. I was going to try and be perky and write an inspirational post about how great life is and all the wonderful things I've been up to. But today I'm going to honest.
I am going to grab that bottle of wine thats in the back of the cupboard, pour myself a glass or two. Who  am I kidding I'm going to drink the entire thing. Sex and the City will put a smile on my face and when I fall asleep everything that has been bothering me and driving me crazy will melt away. Why? because tomorrow is a new day and I am determined not to let these little things drag me down.

Sunday Confessions

All right lovely ladies. Lets link up with Alyx for some Sunday Confessions.

1) I watched the Silver Lining Playbook last night. Loved it.

2) I am so addicted to Goodreads. I play around rating books and adding them to my to-read list for hours. Its almost as bad as pinterest.

3) I made the most amazing Sunday dinner today. Including roast chicken, stuffing, mashed potatoes, baked carrots and yorkshire puddings.(Technically the yorkshires are store bought but I'm still really impressed with myself)

4) I'm really loving the Sunday markets near my house. I have found the most delicious fresh produce, used books for only a dollar and unique hand crafted jewellery.

5) I think my coffee addiction is getting out of control. I have had at least one everyday for a couple of months now. I can't help it its just so delicious and when the cafe next to my work gives us a discount it just seems wrong not to take advantage of it.

February 6, 2013

As a lot of you might now my current day to day life includes a fair bit of lazy days at the beach. lucky I know. Bragging? maybe just a bit.
A few weeks ago we decided it was time to get out of the city for a day and headed down the Gold Coast to Coollongatta beach. This particular beach stretches on for miles with various hikes to great lookout points. Perfect for snapping a few pictures. Our day included diving into the waves and watching all the surfers. Collecting sea shells and lying on the beach with a book enjoying the heat.
I couldn't get over how blue the water was. The sand was so clean that it squeaked underneath your feet. The weirdest sound ever.

Jason said he just had to take a picture of this. I thought I would share.

I have an excellent collection of shells started. A couple from every beach that we have visited here in Australia.

February 4, 2013

I am so excited to share my fantastic find. Has anyone heard of the website goodreads.com? Maybe you all have and I am just way behind. I discovered this magical gem while reading through the wonderful blog Precious Impressions by Catriona, when I saw a post she had done that mentioned a website that gave you recommendations on what to read next depending on your taste in books.
I couldn't believe my luck. I had been searching for something exactly like this that would help me keep track of all the books I have read and recommend ones depending on my taste.

You can sign up for free here. Pick the categories that you read the most and then it will get you to rate those books you have all ready read and discard ones that you are not interested in and bam your list of recommended books appears.

I now have many many books on my list and I will slowly be working my way through them as it is on my 30 by 30 list to read 200 books by the time I turn 30.
On this list are:

Shiver - Maggie Stiefvator
Sisterhood everlasting - Ann Brashares
Maine - J. Courtney Sullivan
Magnified World - Grace O'Connell
The winter witch - Paula Brackston
Incarnate - Jodi Meadows
Eve - Anna Carey
Spellcasters - Kelley Armstrong
Clockwork Princess - Cassandra Clare
Things we love - Kate Spade

I could go on but I won't torture you. What are you reading right now? I would love any recommendations you might have.

Sunday Confessions

All right you know the deal. Time to do some Sunday Confessions.

1) I had such a great day today all by myself. I went and had a coffee and read a magazine. Then wandered over to the farmers market to grab some fresh produce. Love supporting the locals.

2) My favourite book from my favourite author is being turned into a tv series. Beyond excited for this. By the way its Bitten by Kelley Armstrong.

3) Work has been slow lately. Its driving me nuts. I love being completely booked because it makes the day fly by.

4) I have been such a loner lately but I don't care. After pampering people all day long and listening to them talk about their lives and problems sometimes all I want to do is hide away in my home.

5) I have signed up to Jason's gym. I am really excited to be working out with him and to get back into our healthy routine.

February 1, 2013

A couple of days ago I rented a bunch of travel guides and magazines from the library. After a long day of work and putting other peoples needs first there is nothing more satisfying to me right now then curling up with a glass of wine and planning my next great adventure.
