Bits and bobs

I was going through all my pictures from Australia the other day when I noticed I have a bunch of randoms that don't really fit into a post by themselves so I thought I would stick them all together here for your viewing pleasure.

Wanderlust Wednesday - England

I do not handle the cold very well. But lately I have been thinking about hiding away in the English countryside for the winter.

I could picture being tucked away cozy and warm, chilling by the fire reading, writing, drinking cups of hot cocoa. Inviting friends over for little dinner parties. Just hiding away and relaxing.

Happy one year

Today this beautiful little space is one. I can't believe I actually kept blogging this long. I am glad I have because I have met some wonderful people along the way and have discovered another side of myself.

Have a wonderful weekend

I heard on the radio today that we are suppose to be a severe rain and thunder storm. Looking out the window the wind has sure picked up and the black clouds are coming in fast.

I thought I would just wish everyone a happy weekend before the internet is lost and I am unable to get on here.

Stradbroke Island Part 2

As promised here are some more wonderful pictures from our day tour of Stradbroke Island. The beach was just amazing. White sand for miles.

We were lucky enough to spend about three hours laying on the beach and enjoying the refreshing water.

Do you have a favourite beach you like to go to?

Wanderlust Wednesday - Cornwall

Thinking about England a lot lately. A trip is in the works but not exactly sure when that will be at this time. Still I am researching and pinning all the places I would love to see and revisit. Cornwall is beautiful, I have never been but the pictures are breathtaking. The picture above is of Merlins wall which is one of the places that is on the to see list.

Stradbroke Island

Stradbroke Island was one of my favourite tourist experiences while in Australia. It is such a magical place full of lush forest and natural landscape. We decided to sign up for a tour to experience this wonderful Island so we could be sure to see everything it had to offer.

First stop was Tea Tree Lake. The water was a sort of murky brown which made me hesitant to step in but supposedly this lake has special healing powers. Swimming in this lake cures skin aliments and leaves skin refreshed and smelling good.

This guy was massive and I wasn't about to get to close to him, I let Jason do that.

We of course got to go search for Koala's up in the trees and I was able to spot this adorable guy who woke up just long enough to give us a once over before falling back to sleep. We also spotted a young Koala swaying in the breeze way up high in the branches but I wasn't able to get a great picture to show you.

Some of the many signs that are often posted on the beaches in Australia

This one makes me want to stay well away from the water. I wouldn't even dip my toes in.

I have a ton of pictures from our tour so I will be doing another post on Stradbroke later in the week.

I need you

I wanna get lost in some corner booth
Cantina Mexico
I wanna dance to the static of the am radio
I wanna wrap the moon around us
and lay beside you skin on skin
Cause I need you
Like a needle needs a vein
Like my uncle Joe in Oklahoma needs the rain
I need you
Like a lighthouse on the coast
Like the father and the sun need the holy ghost
I need you

Style Series - Minka Kelly

I have been thinking a lot about style lately. Although I have always loved fashion and my closet can build up with shoes very quickly it hasn't always been something I have let myself indulge in, usually because I would rather save my money to travel.
As I flip through magazines and scroll through pinterest I have found myself collecting pictures of certain people that I find have a style I could see myself wearing.

Minka Kelly

Date night outfit perhaps

Nice and casual day look

So in love with this dress. Maybe I can recreate it one day

Who is your style inspiration?

Wanderlust Wednesday - New York

New York

Ahh New York, I have yet to make it to your busy city. I would love to stroll around the streets for hours discovering vintage shops, boutique expresso bars and all the rest. To take the Sex and the City tour would be a dream come true. Outlet malls, enough said.

Do you have a favourite place in New York?

Walking in the sunshine

One of the most exciting things about moving to a new place is exploring. Wouldn't you agree?
I love picking a direction or certain neighbourhood and wandering for hours finding cute shops, hidden coffee shops and taking pictures of everything I see.
While in Brisbane we lived on the outskirts of the downtown so there were always places to explore, the list was never ending. My favourite area was South Bank as it had a little beach to head to and relax when you wanted to soak up the sun and also a river to walk along.

Isn't he cute.

I find it funny that people in Canada pay a lot of money to own a lizard as a pet but these cuties are running around every where in Australia. I must have snapped over 50 pictures of them while we were walking along the river.

Book review: Wild - From lost to found on the pacific crest trail

I am a total bookworm. There is never a time that I do not have a book by my side. I feel lost without them, so with that I thought it would be great to share some of my favourite books on this little space of mine. Lets start with one that I have just recently finished and have fallen in love with.

Wild is the personal memoir of Cheryl Strayed. At 22 she had just lost her mother and has her life started to spiral out of control in the following years she decides that she has nothing else to loose and after reading a guide book about the Pacific crest trail she decides its just what she needs.

This book in my opinion is so well written. I felt like I was right there with her on her journey. Glued to my seat for 3 days I read this from cover to cover unable to put it down for a second. Her life could have so easily continued down the distractive route it was heading but instead she decided to push herself far beyond what her body could handle in order to find peace and perspective.

I even feel like I could maybe one day hike this trail. Just to experience first hand what it was like to do this. If you would like to learn more about this book click here to go to her website.

Wanderlust Wednesday - New Zealand

I know its been awhile since I have posted this series but the blog everyday in May challenge took up most of my time and blogging more then once a day was something I just couldn't see happening.
But here we are in the beginning of June and its time to explore all the wonderful places I would love to see.

New Zealand

Unfortunately we never made it over to New Zealand while we were in Australia but I have always wanted to go. I have met many people from there who remind me of Canadians. I have also heard that the scenery is similar to Canada as well. While in Australia we saw tourist commercials for New Zealand and it made it appear so magical. I would love to take at least 3 weeks to explore.

Wild at heart

Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life? - Mary Oliver "The Summer Day"

A fresh start in June

How weird did it feel to take the weekend off from blogging.  It was a great experience to participate in the blog everyday in May challenge. How wonderful of Jenni to set everything out for us so all we had to do was write about the topics all ready prepared. Lets see if I can keep this up, well maybe I will take a day or two off. Everyone enjoys a day off after all.

After completing the challenge I thought it would be a great idea to really get my blog organized, actually write ideas down and plan posts ahead of time. Do any of you do this? Do you have a blog planner, carry around a little note pad where you scribble down random thoughts as they come to you? I would love to hear your thoughts on this. Organization is not exactly my strong suit.
