Wallowing in self pity

I am currently wallowing in self pity. I have had a head cold for the past four days and there are no signs that its going away. I am a natural kind of person so I really don't like taking any drugs for anything but I have tried all the natural remedies I can think of. I mean I ate enough roasted garlic that it will be coming out of my pores for weeks.

Obviously my little hospital stay back in June ruined my immune system because other then that I can't remember the last time I was sick. I am not a very good sick person. Jason is trying his best to comfort me but all I want to do is lay in bed with a tea and watch tv shows until this horrible thing goes away.

I hope to be well enough to do something exciting this long weekend but who knows. Anyone have great plans for this long weekend?

Road Trip part two

We had a fabulous dinner made by my mom the night before we headed on our road trip. The next morning we woke up and took our time packing before we headed out on the road. It felt good to be moving again as we had stayed in Michigan for three months and I was started to get restless.
We took our time and drove from Hamilton, Michigan to Glace Bay, Nova Scotia in 4 days.

The whole drive was beautiful but my favourite part had to be Maine, even though the weather wasn't ideal for picture taking I tried to make the most of it.

This is what it looked like the entire drive through New Brunswick, at least I wasn't the one driving.

The next morning we woke up to this beautiful view and made it to Glace Bay in time to celebrate Jason's birthday with his family.

Wanderlust Wednesday - Harry Potter World

Harry Potter World

Of course I am a big Harry Potter fan. I have reread all the books and watched the movies many times. I cannot wait to get the chance to experience the magic all over again with a trip to Harry Potter World. Hopefully sometime next year.

Have you ever been. What was your favourite part?

The calm before the storm

Have you ever stopped to watch the sky transform as a storm comes in?

We new that a storm would be coming in that night so we decided to make the most of the warm evening and sit outside enjoying a late dinner.

I love storms. I always get so excited when I hear on the weather channel that we will get a thunder and lightening storm. I could spend hours sitting at the living room windows just watching the sky.

Some times if you are really lucky you get to see the most amazing colours float across.

The perfect night

One of the benefits of living on a boat, you can take it out whenever you feel like it. I loved taking the river queen on onto the lake. We would float around for awhile, see if we could catch any fish. But mostly we watched the sunsets. By now everyone should know that I am a huge fan of sunsets.

Once the sun starting to go down we would climb up on top, snuggle under a cozy blanket with a glass of wine and wait.

Its amazing what happens in a matter of minutes.

Living on a boat

I think I failed to mention that during our stay in Michigan we were invited to stay on a lovely river queen house boat. As soon as Jason heard boat, he of course started packing. So for all most two weeks we lived on a boat in the marina just outside of the little beach town of Douglas, Michigan.

Its such a beautiful, quiet place. There was also a pool in the marina so that is obviously where I spent most of my time. Jason did a bit of renovating and updating on the boat and we took it out on the lake, did a bit of fishing and of course watched the sunset.

life is pretty stress free when you live on a boat.

Wanderlust Wednesday - Cabot Trail

Cabot Trail

One of the perks of Jason being from Nova Scotia is that he knows all the good spots to take me. The Cabot Trail is an amazing drive along the water that pretty much goes all away around the island, I think. I have heard it is beautiful in the fall and I would love to spend a day, slowly making our way around and making sure to take lots of pictures of course.

Have you ever driven the Cabot Trail?

Summer life

Life is pretty relaxing staying at moms acreage. Not much to complain about really. We left Australia just as summer was winding down and arrived in the States just as summer was starting. Did I plan things right or what.

My favourite thing to do is sit out on the front porch, basking in the early morning sun enjoying my latte and a book. I could spend hours doing that and usually did. Jason and I were content to spend hours walking around the garden, playing with max and doing little projects every once in awhile.

This is Chunk. He greeted us every morning and loved to sit on top of the mermaid enjoying the sunshine.

Lilly's growing in the pond.

Fresh cut flowers from the garden.

Kalamazoo Speedway

I have never been to watch car racing of any sort before. So when a friend suggested we come along to the Kalamazoo Speedway Jason and I were both delighted.
Picking out a car to cheer for and the anticipation as you watch them flying around the track, just as you think your car is going to win someone pulls a fast one and is suddenly in the lead.

The noise of the cars racing by, smell of popcorn and fried food. People cheering for family and friends that are in the race. It was such an awesome environment to get to spend the day in. I think I am addicted.

Of course there were a few accidents along the way, but no one got hurt I promise.
Have you ever been to a race before? What was your favourite part.

Battle Creek Festival

It was a perfectly sunny day as we headed to Battle Creek to enjoy a day filled with carnival rides, fast cars, air show and balloon festival. Of course the first thing Jason wanted to do as we entered the fair grounds was go check out all the sports cars, I on the other hand headed straight for the fair food and grabbed myself an enormous elephant ear. Ever had one? they are fantastic. I am glad you usually only see them sold at carnivals because if I eat them all the time I would be a thousand pounds by now.

We spent most of the day stretched out on a blanket enjoying the air show. It included the little plane from the disney movie cars and also a crazy man who stands on the top of the aircraft and walks around doing different stunts while the plane continues to fly around. Crazy, yes thats what I thought.

That little blob of orange would be the guy standing on top of the plane.

Unfortunately as the air show was ending they announced that due to the bad weather that was heading towards the grounds the balloons would be unable to fly in. I was really disappointed as they were suppose to be lit up as night fell and it would have really been something magical to see.

Maybe next time. At least I got to enjoy my elephant ear.
