Adding this mystical place to my ever growing list of places I would love to visit while we are in England.

Forget me not pond

This summer we have really taken advantage of the hot days to escape the city and explore the surrounding mountains. Forget me not pond is about an hour drive south of Calgary. There are actually two different lakes and a river perfect for fishing. If your looking for more of a weekend getaway there is also camping a five minute drive away.

The water was so clear you could see right down to the bottom. Unfortunately the water was absolutely freezing so no swimming for me. We discovered a few trails heading off into the hills. One day I would love to pack a picnic, pick a trail and head off and explore.

Corfu town

I know I've been on a roll talking about Corfu recently, but honestly this island has so much to offer. Spending five months here really allowed me to immerse myself in the culture. The Christmas season is filled with all kinds of celebrations, I was invited to many dinners where I met wonderful people.

Being apart of the riding lessons let me practice my greek with the young children who were also practicing their english. It was a peace of paradise and I really hope to take Jason here one day.

Horse play

I have spent much of my life around horses. If asked, I would say that a horse is my soul animal. They are so graceful, playful and soothing. Much of my childhood was spent riding, competing and taking care of our horses and I hope someday to own a bit of land and a couple of horses again.

While travelling through Europe I came across an amazing opportunity to work at a horse ranch/riding school. In exchange for a few hours a day I was given free room and board. Really spending 5 hours riding and playing with horses is hardly a job in my opinion, I was in heaven.

Wanderlust Wednesday - Carnival

Carnival, Italy

Carnival is a festival famous for the elaborate masks. First started in the year 1162, this festival attracts people from all over the world. I can't wait to go one day.

Have you ever been?

Penticton, British Columbia

Nestled in a valley surrounded by vineyards, mountains and lakes, sits the quaint town of Penticton. Jason and I decided to take a last minute trip here, escaping from the city and embracing the quiet this place had to offer. Penticton is about an eight hour drive from Calgary. Although its long, this trip leads you through the Rocky Mountains that are spectacular and offers endless opportunities to breath in the fresh mountain air and enjoy the views.

We explored the surrounding countryside, wandered through vineyards, drank coffee on the beach watching the sunset and made friends with ducks and other wildlife. As the week came to an end, neither one of us wanted to leave. Penticton will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Wanderlust Wednesday - Trevi fountain

Trevi fountain, Rome

It is so hard to choose a favourite place from my time in Rome. One thing in particular that I really enjoyed was all the magic surrounding the Trevi fountain. There is an old saying that you can throw a penny in and make a wish, of course I did this and what did you know my wish came true.

Liebster Nomination

My wonderful sister has given me the Liebster award. Brianna writes over at Shoes Are My Muse, which is a fashion blog. Head on over and check out all the funky clothes she designs and makes herself.

1. What got you into blogging?
I started blogging back in 2012 to document my travels through Australia. Once I started I discovered such a wonderful community of like minded people and I have been addicted ever since.

2. How do you stay inspired to blog?
Lately I have been a bad blogger, life, school and other things have gotten in the way, I am happy to say I am 100% back to blogging. I try and keep my camera and notebook with me at all times. You never know when you will have a random sentence or idea pop into your head.

3. Where do you most want to travel to that you have not been to yet?
Lately New Zealand has been on my mind. I would love to spend a month or so travelling around, living in a camper van and exploring.

4. Whats the most amazing food you've ever eaten and where?
This is so easy, it was a dumpling place that a friend of mine in Australia took me to. After that first meal I was hooked and insisted that Jason and I ate there at least once a week.

5. What's your favourite F word? (I'm stealing this question because I think the answers will be all over the map on how depending on how the question is interpreted!)

6. What are you currently reading?
I am currently reading City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare. It is the sixth book in the Mortal Instruments series.

7. Cat or dog?
Totally a dog person.

8. Do you have a secret talent? (ie. picking celebrity doubles for people, picking up things with your toes)
Not sure about this one

9. The world would be a better place with more _______?

10. If you were a shoe what would you look like?
Bright green ankle boot with a two inch heel.

11. What came first: the chicken or the egg? (I can't believe no one else has asked this question)
Its totally the egg.

So now I need to nominate some people.

2. You must answer 11 questions given to you by the person that nominated you.

3. After completing these questions you must nominate 11 bloggers with under 200 followers and give them 11 questions of your choice.

4. You must not nominate the person who nominated you.

Rocky Mountains

Although I do complain about the lack of summer and long winters here in Calgary, one thing I absolutely love is how close we are to the mountains. In May I was feeling pretty restless so the minute Jason came home, we packed our bags and took off. We decided to head off into the mountains but weren't entirely sure exactly where we would end up.

Even though I've taken numerous trips into the mountains, the beauty still takes my breath away. Its a scenic drive with no reason to rush. I had my camera at the ready the entire drive, hoping to see some wildlife. Unfortunately this did not happen.

There was still tons of snow in the mountains, including an avalanche or two. As we crossed over into BC and headed in the direction of the Okanogan I couldn't get over how green everything was. While Calgary was still dead and brown, BC had lush green fields, leaves on the trees and tulips everywhere.

After eight hours of driving we decided to stop in Penticton. A cute little lakeside town. Tucked away in a little valley, surrounded by wineries, independent coffee shops and of course beautiful sandy beaches.

First day of summer camp

The first day of yoga teacher training reminded me of summer camp. That nervous/terrified feeling you have when you're not sure what you signed up for was actually a good idea. I still remember how badly my legs were shaking as I walked up the stairs to the front reception. Within minutes I had introduced myself to several women who I would be taking the class with. I realized then that I had no reason to be nervous, everyone was just as nervous as I was.

We started the morning with an opening circle, which consists of each person taking a turn to say a bit about yourself and why you chose to take the training. Looking around the room I was fascinated with all the different paths that had lead each person here. Twenty eight completely different personalities would be spending the next four weeks together, sharing what would prove to be both a physical and emotional journey.

Over the next few weeks I will be sharing more about my journey and what I plan to do next.
