Wanderlust Wednesday - New York

New York, New York

I'm pretty sure I have posted about New York before in my wanderlust series, but who can blame me this city is fantastic. The city that never sleeps, truly.

Who has been to New York before? what would you recommend for the must see sites?

  1. Ellen's Stardust Diner, Top of the Rock, Empire State Building, Ground Zero (although the memorial wasn't finished when I went in 2010), the sightseeing bus tour, Magnolia's cupcakes, Bubba Gump's, a trip to Jersey Gardens Mall in NJ (a huge must for shopaholics, you just need to get a local bus), trip to Macy's, Tiffany & Co on 5th, Ice Skating in CP or at the Rockefeller Center and a carriage ride around Central Park! If you manage to fit all that and more in!

  3. Oh my goodness I could go on and on about this fantastic city, but I'll cliff note as best as I can. AlessWS had some fantastic ideas. To add to them, first stop is a get a bagel from Leo's Bagels in the financial district. Then you can make your way over to stroll The High Line. It's a linear park with fantastic views. From the High Line, you can stop by Pier 66 Maritime which is a restaurant on a floating railroad barge. It's right near Chelsea Piers. The best part about New York City is to just walk around. There are always so many events it's completely normal to stumble upon some niche event or food festival. Depending on the day of the week, there may be a free show on the Great Lawn in central park. A trip to Eataly, the largest italian food market in the world, is a must. A walk across Brooklyn Bridge and a visit to DUMBO on the other side is a great afternoon stroll. You could walk back or hop a ferry back to Manhattan. The views will be spectacular! Or, if it's the weekend you can stay in Brooklyn and hit Smorgasbord, a flea food market. There is just so much to do and see. Get local!
